AM: This was the day! What I had been working so hard for and it really paid off. I was feeling pretty good during my warm-up of about 12 minutes and the weather had cleared during it so it was a little nicer (still cold). After my warm-up, I ran into Derick Moody (ran 15:40 a few weeks ago), however he was doing the 10k.

Start: Took off at a pretty good pace. About slipped at the beginning because the roads were covered in ice/snow. Derick and I went out at 5:00 for the first mile, following the ATV that was guiding us. I felt pretty good and told myself I could keep going.

Mile 2: At about 1.5 miles, the 10k split off, so I had to say good-bye to Derick. When I took the 5k turn, I saw a huge half-mile hill and was sad cause I knew it would hurt my time. It was tough to get up and I didn't get to see my 2 mile split.

Finish: After getting up the huge hill, I just started to push it in. I already knew I had the victory, but I really wanted the PR so I stepped it up. After the hill, I could see the finish and my watch said 15:40 so I used my new kick to finish in a time of 16:28. Really happy with my results and will probably go for another 5 miles soon. Also Derick won the 10k in 33:06.

PM: Did another 4.1 with some heavy snow. Averaged right around 6:33 pace. Done for my 6 day week.
